37) Solve the system of equations by using substitution. State the answer as an ordered pair.

-3x - y = -13

x + 2y = 6

38) State the equation that you wrote in the previous problem after making the first substitution.

  1. 2 (3x+y-13 = 0 )  -->  6x+2y-26=0  -->    6x - 26 = - 2y

    x + 2y = 6  -->  x - 6 = -2y -->  x - 6 = -2y

    Now they're equal to the same thing...so they're equal to each other now...

    6x - 26 = x - 6     <<<<I think that's #38, but I'm not positive...

    5x = 20

    x = 4                 <<<<That's your first answer.

    x + 2y = 6

    4 + 2y = 6

    2y = 2

    y = 1                  <<<<That's your second answer.

    (4, 1)                  <<<<Ordered Pair (x, y)

    The beginning isn't great mathmatical form, but it's sufficient.

  2. Why is this in the Language section ?! God the unvirse have to remind of school ?!!? let us enjoy what's left of summer XD

  3. you need to make the quality of the y and the x equal with opposite signs:

    -3x-y=-13

    3x+6y=18-->times both sides by 3

    --------------------add both equations

    0+5y=5--> y=1

    now subtitue for Y in any of the equations to solve for X:

    x+2(1)=6--> x=4

    good luck:)  hope that helped
