like on animal planet's Growing Up Black Bear or Clouded Leopard.

How do you get into that field. My mother says zoology and animal psychology. Any more info about raising wild animals in a captive enviroment?

  1. I have seen a couple shows where people are caring for young exotic/zoo animals till they are old enough to go out on exhibit. Some were the staff of a zoo or sanctuary, some were staff that took the animals home, and a few other were taken home but I'm not sure if the people caring for the animals were staff and if they weren't i don't know how they got that job.

Most likely for you, you'll need to become a keeper or vet and find work at a Zoo or Sanctuary  to get the chance to raise baby exotic/zoo animals. I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to own a Gibbon and besides, they don't make good pets.

Try contacting a zoo or sanctuary for info about how to get that job, what education & experience is needed, and what they require for you to work there.

You could also see about volunteering/interning at a zoo or sanctuary to gain some experience. It might also help you get a job if you decided to work there.

Some degrees you might want to look into are:

*Primatology (look to see if any colleges offer a degree, has a primate related program, or at least offers some primate classes)

    *Zoology

    *Animal Science

    *Zoo Science/Technology

    *Ethology or Animal Behavior

*Wildlife/Exotic/Zoo (care, conservation, education, ecology, *etc)

*Wildlife/Exotic/Zoo/Animal Management (...I recommend Moorpark College's Exotic Animal Training and Management)

  2. You need to have permission by the state to house any wild animal other wise it would be illegal. U need to take vet, zoology and biology in collage.
