  1. Just because an animal is no longer "endangered" does not mean that they are allowed to be kept as "pets". One of the only ways to go about this would be to volunteer with a wild animal rescue organization and see about nursing sick wild animals back to health. No guaruntee if it would work, but thats the only thing I could think of. Or maybe working with the zoo.

  2. I don't think it's really legal to own any wild animals.  Unless you were a "rescue" of some sort and even then you'd have to release them back in the wild after they are better.

  3. No, you are not allowed to own a Bald Eagle.  They are our National Symbol, and as such they are still protected.

Th only people who are allowed to "own" them are raptor rehab centers, and places like that.  They get in sick or injured birds which can never be returned to the wild, because of some sort of catastrophic injury, like a missing eye, or wing that had to be amputated.

They are allowed to keep and use the birds for breeding or education purposes.  You are not allowed to capture and own a healthy wild Bald Eagle.

There is one exception to the rule....Native Americans.  Native American Indians can capture and own (if they would like to) a Bald Eagle...they are even allowed to kill a certain small number of them for their cerimones.

  4. Even though it is taken off the endangered species list it does not mean that it is not longer protected.  The bald eagle is still part of the raptor family of birds which means it is still a protected species, however it is not listed as endangered.  I am not too familiar with the current listing of the bald eagle but the IUCN has a complete list.  The red-list categorizes species that are endangered, threatened, and at risk species that are still stable to a point.  So even though they are not endangered does not mean they are not protected......so no you cannot own one

  5. The word is BALD..not bold.  Only licensed animal rehabilitator can keep a native animal for a specific amount of time.

  6. Sure you can own a Bold Eagle providing you can find one. Just don't expect to be given permission to own a Bald Eagle.
