Can you paint a shingled roof black or any other dark color?

The roof is only 2 years old so I'm not going to replace it. And the shingle color is a pale green and doesn't look good with the rest of the house. I've seen elastomeric paints but they are all white or tan.

No, it will peel no matter what you do, try staining it with a semi-transparent oil base stain. you can bleach it first to clean & brighten it.

Source, 30 years painting. Google roof paint, BEHR does have a roof paint that is tintable, made for asphalt shingles, and if they have it so do others. time to do some more research. I have not used this product I only know it exist, hope this helps. Black roof, very hot attic!!!

Dark colors are not good on a roof - you want something reflective.
