Question:

Can you paint over glue?

I had some wall stickers (made for walls) on my kids walls, I got the stickers off but it left a glue residue also there is one place where Elmer's glue has dried on the wall. I tried heating it up and getting it wet separately of course and it did not really come off. Can I just paint over it anyway? We have heavily textured walls so I tried sanding it a little to rough it up but I cannot get the flat spots in between the texture. Any advice would be great it is driving me crazy!

  1. There is a right way to do things and sometimes a way to cut corners. 30 years painting. Best way can of kilz primer spray ,$3.00 at home depo, however adhesive being oil base it should not bleed thru quick drying latex paint, Elmer's glue take small piece of course sand paper and sand as best you can. 2. yes but use a primer over the glue spots first,

  3. Vinegar will dissolve elmer's glue, but it'll take a good thirty minutes of soaking. Since the wall is textured you feally shouldn't have a problem though.
