Can you pass the border even without a passaport?

So im 19 and i dont have a passaport, I was born in houston and such so i have my birth certificate card thingy which i usually use to cross the border back in to the us so my question is that are they still allowing you to show an id and ur birth certificate or not, because i dont want to be stuck in mexico that would suck!

  2. If you're driving in from Mexico to the US-yes, you need a passport, no matter what. There are places where you can walk across the border, either to or from Mexico, and in that case you don't need one. You can't get past the checkpoint in Mexico though without one. The checkpoint is 15 miles into the country (both Mexico and US have them)

  3. Passports are not required to cross the Mexican border until June 1, 2009.  Until then, you may use a certified birth certificate and a gov't issued i.d.  See site below to read the law for yourself.

  4. yes a license and birth certificate is fine. even license would be fine but they may just question you a bit more.

  6. Going there is no problem...coming back may be.
