I'm from the Chicago area where you can pay for missed tollways after you missed them but I wasn't sure if it was possible in New York. I don't mean to miss tollways, but sometimes it can be a near-death experience trying to get 4 lanes over in a matter of seconds. Thanks for the help!

  1. Rest assured that you will pay for it. In NY each tollbooth is equipped with cameras which take a picture of your license plate.

At some point shortly thereafter you will get a ticket in the mail charging you for the toll and a fine for not paying in the first place.

  2. If it's your first offense, you'll likely get a letter in the mail in the coming weeks, telling you that if you pay the toll and a service charge, they'll forgo any further penalty.

It happened to me once at a bridge crossing into New York City.  Once I paid the not-overly large charge, there was no further action.
