Can you pay for stuff with euros...in the uk....??

An associate and I were having a long dsicussion about this a while ago. in shops like new look, and tesco, where the prices are in both pounds and euros, can you pay by euros? it would make sense if you could.

  1. If you have a credit card and it's from a European bank then you'll be charged in pounds at the store , obviously when you get thew statement from the bank, you'll see the conversion. Some shops in the cent re of London will accept euros at their rates, which can work out expensive for you, however you need to ask before paying if you don't have pounds. Harrods have a policy where they offer you the possibility of paying in either euros or pounds, and they will give you a good rate.

    I travel to London quite a bit and have found that unless the exchange rate is not good, which it usually is not, then pounds is the best way to pay, the euro is no way as strong as the pound despite what anyone may say. the pound has become weaker in recent times but the euro will not devalue the pound for years to come. One of many reasons for Britain not converting. As you had a long discussion , I thought I'd be long-winded too ! Hope this helps
