yes and yes.  Professional piercers use sterile equipment and settings for a reason and they know how to do it so it'll hurt the least amount possible.

If someone does it by themselves, they could end up with a bad infection, scarring, a crooked ugly piercing, and/or lots of pain.

The question here should be if you can, because of course you are well able (unless you have no hands or fingers... or nose). The question here should "why should I pierce my own nose?"

You don't want to do that by yourself, if you had any preconceived notions to do so. Go to a professional. They have the proper tools to insure the least amount of pain and danger.

Yes you can!  You can also get a really bad infection or even mess up the piercing itself and get scar tissue!

Don't do it.  Go to a professional. And if you're not old enough yet, wait.

It will hurt.  If you do it just make sure everything you are touching is really sterile.  It'd be much easier to get it done professionally.  If you use a needle the hole will be very small and getting a bit of jewellery in afterwards will be the worst part of it - especially as you'll be able to get something through the outside hole, but then you can make a bit of a mess wriggling it around the inbetween flesh to get it through the inside layer.

I did it. Twice, actually. It hurt a LOT because I was using a sewing needle and the nose ring I got didn't work so every time I pulled my shirt off, it would rip out. Go get it done professionally.

my friends have done it and it might hurt ,,,,

alll you have to do is take a safety pin or needle and heat it up over the stove then take the back of a spoon and put it in you nose were the piercing will go through( so you dont poke you self inside) and the take the needle and push it through you nose and pop in a stud so the hole wont close and your done...

Yes i did my own, although it takes longer and is really painful!

I recommend going to a professional but it you cant for whatever reason and you really want it done, sure you can do it yourself.

Just numb the area first with ice :)

DUDE! I did that, its hurts very much, but it hurts the same, just make sure a professional does it, because you could hurt yourself or hit a spot that doesnt stop bleeding.

Well, yew could it probably does hurt, and i think it is dangerous because this dude, peirced his own lip and i guess he messed usp and he had to go to deh hospital. =/  My opinion - yew just paythe twenty something dollars and not risk it.
