I am trying to make my backyard look nice. So I went to my local Lowe's and purchased different plants. I am looking to get some nice ground covers and I saw an English Ivy, I've planted it in the ground near other plants. I'm wondering if that was a mistake? Should I pull it up? Just not sure if other plants can survive around it. I'm seeing different things about it and not sure witch is correct.

I live in Southeast Texas. How about Purple Fountain Grass? Anyone use this?

  1. English ivy will kill other plants off and keep moving until it hits rock or asphalt.  It climbs over houses and damages siding and bricks.  Nice green carpets are made by creeping myrtle or crown vetch without the problems.

  2. yes.  after 2-3 years pull it off plants.  pf grass is great
