  1. Not immediately. Trees take a lot of nutrients out of the ground so wait a few weeks. Yew trees are also highly posionous to animals, other plants, and humans. Maybe you should get a specialist to help you out.


  2. Yew trees and yew tree needles are highly toxic to other plants. You never see much growing beneath yew trees.

    If there are a lot of needles, I would rake them into a pile and leave them to compost for a few months. Then wait a couple of months for the yew tree toxins to get washed out of the soil where you want to plant your garden.

    Live yew trees are pretty toxic to humans, too, but the toxicity goes away once the tree dies.
