I'm thinking of getting a new computer with a Blu-Ray drive. Do i need a special "high definition monitor" to fully enjoy the Blu-Ray, or will I be fine with my 19" LG L1951S? Its a pretty good monitor but I'm just wondering if it's "blu-ray capable." Thanks.

  2. According to your monitor's specs on the LG site the max resolution is only 1280x1024. Hi-Def Blu-Ray has a native resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p). Your monitor also has a response time of 12ms, you would need about 2-5ms so movies with action or fast scenes wont blur out or pixelate on you.

Overall though you should be able to watch movies comfortably, you just wont get everything out of Blu-Ray by using your monitor.

That's an excellent question. I think what's happening is Blu-Ray is ahead of the game right now and has beat the monitor manufacturers to the punch. It's also expensive to make monitors of that quality to include in bundled computer packages and keep it cheap enough for people to want to buy. Computers with Blu-Ray drives are expensive as it is.

"If you build it, they will come". Look at how long digital TV has been available and just now we're getting into it. Look at how long HDTV sets were available before channels even offered it. Blu-Ray has been built, soon enough everything else will come (at a reasonable price hopefully).

  3. if i understand correctly, blueray is just a High deffinition DVD. so yea 19 inch would be fine but blueray is born to play movies in Large screens with higher definitions
