  1. Only on HD players.

The "upscaling" refers to the fact they can output to an HDTV, not an ability to play HD-DVDs.

  2. Depends on which upscaling player it is. I have a Toshiba EP-10 and it plays HD DVD's. Look for the HD DVD logo on the player.

HD DVD's cannot be played on a BD (Blu-Ray) player. Blu-Rays cannot be played on a HD DVD player However, BD players upscale DVD's too.

    Some exceptions include:

LG BH100/200 - It's a dual format player, has BD and HD DVD logo.

  3. There is only one way in which an HD DVD would play on and upscaling dvd player -

The HD DVD would have to be a combo.  What is a combo HD DVD?  It is one that has HD on one side of the disk and SD on the other.

Here is an example of a combo HD DVD.

  4. You can't use upscalers for HD anything....

  5. your player wont be able to read the disc, the HD upscaling just makes a normal DVD slightly better quality.

  6. You CAN'T play HD DVD disks on anything but an HD DVD player.

You CAN'T play Blu-Ray disks on anything but a Blu-ray player.

However, both HD DVD and Blu-ray players will play (and upconvert) DVDs.
