Can you play a PC game online against someone who has the game on a MAC?

My friend has the game black and white on the pc and told me to get it so we can play each other online. I have a mac though and am unsure if it would work? Does anyone know?

Should do take warcraft 3 for example one disc is mac/windows compatible and i can play with macs on ym vista machine should be fine

It works for some games, but not for others, it depends on how the company has set up the servers. To find out for sure, you'd have to find someone who has one version and a friend with another version already, or try it yourself.

To warn you, the game itself is good but it gets boring playing online after a few matches and almost everyone online seems to cheat with the creatures.

If there is a mac version and a pc version, it could work. It works for Blizzard games.
