Can you play playstation 2 games on a ps3?

Is there an update or a way to play playstation 2 games on a playstation 3? I heard they worked on 20 and 60 GB and a lot of games worked on the 80 GB ones, but do any work on the other on the other one?

this site will give you a playstation 3 just for completing some quick online tasks! really recommend it, especially if you're broke but really want a ps3 (like me).

no ps2 games work no the 40gb, only on the 20, 60 and 80. The new 80gb coming out in September wont be able to play ps2 games

20gb/60gb ps3- 95% of ps2 games will work, because they have the emotion engine chip just like playing the ps2.

1st 80gb ps3- 80% of ps2 games will work, because they removed the emotion engine and reduce to software emulation.

40gb/core 80gb- no ps2 games will work, because they removed anything to play ps2 games.
