  1. I can't really do it will with mine, but I have a phenolic tip.  Shooting with it can be done with a semi loud tink, but hard to get english.

  2. .... yeah????? of course... a break cue is just a cue that is used specifically for breaking to reduce wear on playing cues. some break cues may weigh more or less then playing cues though, and could have a harder feel when you hit the cue ball but besides that theyre almost the same.

  3. My main stick is a jump-break cue

not exactly off the shelf but that is all it is

  4. No, because if you play pool with the cue rather than just using it for breaking it ceases to be a break cue and becomes just another pool cue. And what has this cue, that has served you so well, done to deserve revoking of it's special duties?

  5. Yes! You can play pool with a "break" cue:

A "break cue" is nothing more than a regular pool cue that a player uses for breaking. Of course you can play pool with it ---- it's a regular pool cue.

The reason some players have a "break cue" and a "playing cue" is simply to save wear and tear on their playing cue, and to alleviate the chance of losing a tip off their playing cue when you only have 30 seconds on the shot clock to shoot. Again ---- A "break" cue is simply a regular pool cue used to break with.

  6. not if you have phenolic break tip, that would be disaster waiting to happen.

  7. simple question , simple answer. You sure can.

  8. Generally, yes, and you can break with a playing cue. Specially designed break cues will have phenolic tips and it will make it much more difficult to apply any spin to a shot without miscuing. And the tips on regular playing cues will wear down a little bit faster if you use them for breaking, but there are some pro's that use only one cue for everything.
