You can absolutely play ANYTHING that a PS3 will play on either HD or standard TV. It won't look as good as an HDTV but it will look better than anything else you play on a standard TV.

Once again. Everything a PS3 plays will play on either HD or standard TV just fine.

If you can play your ps3 on your tv than yes, but if you do not have an hd tv it is kind of a wast of money to get blue ray disks because the picture quality will not b any different
