  1. Yes

    Blue Ray and HD-DVD players usually support the DVD-video discs but the opposite is not true.  DVD-video players do not play these new format high definition discs.


  2. Yes, HD DVD and Blu-Ray disc players are designed to be backwards compatible with regular DVD's. Some can't play audio CD's though so if you want that functionality as well make sure you check all the details.

  3. YES.  And you will get a better picture than most of regular DVD players is the same price range.
