Can you play the Xbox games that say live enable on the original xbox without having the online subscription?

i just got an xbox for my kids, the original, and i'm looking for games online to purchase for it and stuff, and most that i have come across say xbox live, can you play these on the original xbox and do you have to be subscribed to the online live gaming to play the game or is that just an option that you have if you want to? thanks

Xbox Live is not necessary to play these games, unless it is an online only game. The "Enabled" part just means that this particular game can be played online.

These games can also be played offline and without a subscription, but you are limited to single player or any offline modes the game may have.

If you require to play the game online, you will need to get that subscription.

If you look on the back of the box, it will tell you if the game can be played offline (usually written in green) and online (orange). It will also detail how many players can play offline without a subscription on the same xbox, and also tell you how many players you can have in one match if you were to play it online. If you buy online, most decent online shops will also have this information on the game's webpage.

yes you can i played them for ever until my dad could buy xbox live... xbox live just makes it more enjoyable but you can play with out

Yes you can, Most xbox games are Offline first games, the Xbox live is only for Multiplayer Online gaming and buying extra content for the game. You dont need to subscribe to Xbox live in order to play the games.
