Acid rain increases the acidity of lakes and streams.  That means that there is more acid in the water than is normal.  This kills plants and aquatic animals or makes them unhealthy.

Buildings and statues that are outside break down over time due to weathering.  Acid rain increases the rate of this weathering.

When acid rain falls on forests, the trees grow more slowly.  Their leaves or needles turn brown.

Acid rain cause patches of etched areas on the paint of cars.
