Humanitarians are people who support helping improve the condition of the poorest members of society.  They usually do so through private means, such as charities.  Socialists support the same thing, except they support using government intervention to do so.

Humanitarians should spend a portion of their time or money volunteering or donating to charities that help the poor.

Republicans should support humanitarianism because it provides a way to help poor people without government intervention, which is (supposedly) antithetical to their beliefs.
