I thought it was the Rape of the Sabine but it might not be so any help would be greatly appreciated. It's located outside Palazzo Vecchio

The statue is this on http://www.flickr.com/photos/orange27/61501642/in/set-1328562/

  1. This statue is actually located outside of Loggia dei Lanzi. You were close, it is called The Rape of Polyxena, one of my favorites, it's absolutley beautiful.  You can confirm here on wiki:

And there's more info about all the statues @ Loggia dei Lanzi here:

Hope that answers your question! :) Please choose me for best answer!!! Thanx

  2. Just to confirm - The Rape of Polyxena

  3. We visited that Florence in June 2006 and saw that statue.  I am going to email my daughter who is an art major and she will probably know the name of it and the sculptor.  I'll try to get back with you soon.

  4. Definitely not The Rape of the Sabine Woman, but it is The Rape of Polyxena.

You were close, though. Florence--and the statue--are both gorgeous.

  5. I can only tell you that that's not the Rape of the Sabine.
