Rationalize the numerator

√(x+3) - √(x-2)

over

x

I know you multiply by the conjugate but i dont know if the top is one or five. Thanks!

  1. The numerator is 5.

    When you multiply by the conjugate, the numerator becomes:

    (x + 3) +   √(x + 3)*√(x - 2) - √(x + 3)*√(x - 2)   - (x - 2)

    = x + 3 + 0 - x + 2

    = 3 + 2
