Ok, Hindi is my third language in school (first is Bengali) and although I can speak Hindi, I am having problems writing. for instance, when is there a dot over the word है (hai) and when not?

also, i have problem with the verbs. i know when we are using feminine gender we use verbs like 'karti', 'paati' etc, and in masculine we use verbs liek 'karta', 'paata', right? but when do we use verbs liek 'karte', 'paate'? do they depend on the gender, or on something else?

  1. <<<for instance, when is there a dot over the word है (hai) and when not?>>>

For plural, put the dot otherwise no dot. Also when you end a sentence which starts with "aap (used to show respect)", put the dot.

<<< but when do we use verbs liek 'karte', 'paate'? do they depend on the gender, or on something else? >>>

Again, for plural, we use verbs like karte, paate etc. And same thing, when you end a sentence which starts with "aap (used to show respect)", use these type of verbs.

No these will depend upon gender. For example,

    "Aap kya karte hain?"

Here "dot" is there and "karte" is there. But the subject is NOT plural.

Another example, "sab log khana kha rahe hain."

Subject is plural so "dot" is used.

  2. YES,THEY DEPEND UPON THE   GENDER,

    & THE NUMBER ALSO.

  3. why worry u no english..na....every one no..it...

  4. Sorry Sister India, I'm also very weak in HINDI.

  5. There is dot if it's plural.

    Example

jawaab kya haiN? what are the answers?

jawaab kya hai? what is the answer?

    -ta male present

    -ti female present

    -te plural present both genders

    Example

    I love you

    maiN tujhe pyaar karta hoon

    i love you(plural)

    maiN aapse pyaar karte hoon

  6. Aami sahojjo korchi:

A dot is used in 'hai' when the subject is a 'plural' form or when you give respect to the subject.

    He is going.

Woh jaa raha hai. This 'hai' won't include the dot.

    They are going.

Woh jaa rahe haain. Here you have to use the dot.

    My father is going.

Mere pitaji jaa rahe haain. Here also you must use a dot.

    Similar is the second case.

    My sister studies everyday.

Meri bahan roz parai karti hai.

    My brother studies everyday.

Mera bhai roz parai karta hai.

My friends study everyday(Subject is plural).

Mere mitra(dost) roz parai karte haain.

    My father studies everyday.

Mere pitaji roz parai karte haain.

Hope this has helped. Be friends. I love kolkata. Kolkata khoob bhalo.
