I really need help with this problem.

I don't want the just the answer I also want to know the steps to do it or maybe an example problem similar to this one where you can go through all of the steps for me or perhaps you can just give me a link to a website where it explains all of the steps for me.

Here is the problem: 4a + 3b + 7c + 2a + b =

There is no more information.

Please Help!

And thank you in advance.

10 ANSWERS

  1. Add all like terms together. The answer is..

    6a+4b+7c

Remember...variables with no number next to them, actually have a 1 next to them, it just isn't shown.

  2. This problem is as simple as combining the like terms together. Add the As together, add the Bs together, add the Cs together:

    4a + 2a = 6a

    3b + (1)b = 4b

    7c + 0 = 7c

    4a + 3b + 7c + 2a + b = 6a + 4b + 7c

  3. When there are same variables (letters), you can add the coefficients (the numbers in front of the letters).

    4a+3b+7c+2a+b

    = (4+2)a+(3+1)b+7c

    = 6a+4b+7c

  4. 6a + 4b + 7c

  5. You call this 7th grade math? More like 6th or even 5th

  6. what is wanted is to simplify this by combining the terms at are alike

like terms have the same variable.  4a and 2a are like terms.

The sign of operation is in front of the 2a    so 4a + 2a can be replaced by 6a

3b and b are like  terms  the variable b does not have a number (coefficent) so it is assumed to be 1

    3b + 1b can be combined to make 4b

7c is the only c term so it can not be combined

    when you finish combining terms:

    6a + 4b + 7c   is the simplist form of the original

note all the signs are + which makes it easier  if they were some + and some - then use the operation that comes in front of the term.

There is of course much more to this than I have given here but you will have to learn about them one at a time.

to show this on your paper  I would rearrange the terms so the "like" terms are together (keeping the sign) with each term.

    4a +3b +7c + 2a +b

    4a + 2a +3b + 1b + 7c

    then combine (add or subtract)

    6a + 4b + 7c

this is the final line since only like terms can be combined.

I am sure you have some more of these... good luck

  7. the equation needs to be simplified and the only way to do that is to add the like terms.

    4a+3b+7c+2a+b

4a and 2a have the same pronumeral which is "a" this is a like term so you add them 4a+2a=6a now you substitute that into the equation:

    6a+3b+7c+b=

there is another set of like terms 3b and b have the like term of "b" so you add them like with the "a"

    3b+b=4b (b=1b)

    now substittute:

    6a+4b+7c

    and there you go

    4a+3b+7c+2a+b=6a+4b+7c

    there you go.

  8. That is called "combining like terms."

To get the answer, you would have to combine the like terms, the A's B's and C's.

    The question is asking:

What is four A's, plus three B's, plus seven C's, plus two A's, plus one B?

The answer would be six A's, four B's, and seven C's.

    Another way of saying it:

    AAAA + BBB + CCCCCCC + AA + B

    Equals

    AAAAA BBBB CCCCCCC

So basically, you are combining the similar terms.

  9. combine the like terms.

    a's with a's.

    4a+2a equals 6a

    b's with b's.

    3b+b equals 4b

    and c's with c's.

7c is the only one of it's kind so it can be left alone.

    6a+4b+7c is the answer

remeber! there is an invisible "1" behind every variable! that is why 3b+b equals 4b

  10. just treat the a's b's and c's seperately. let the a's be apples, b be oranges and c be pears. you want to add 4 apples and 3 oranges and 7 pears and 2 apples and an orange. so you end up with 6 (4+2) apples, 4 (3+1) oranges and 7 pears. i.e. 6a+4b+7C
