  1. Life span~On average tigers will live for 10 to 15 years out in the wild and 16 to 20 years in captivity, though there is one Australian tiger recorded as living to the ripe old age of 26.

Number of species~There's 8 species of Tigers but 3 have gone extinct.

    The species are:

    Still Alive:

    Sumatran Tiger

    Bengal Tiger

    Indochinese Tiger

    South China Tiger

    Amur (Siberian) Tiger

    Extinct:

    Caspian Tiger

    Bali Tiger

    Javan Tiger

Eating habits~ In the wild, tigers mostly feed on larger and medium sized animals. Sambar, gaur, domestic buffalo, chital, boar, and nilgai are the tiger's favored prey in India. In Siberia the main prey species are Mandchurian elk, wild boar, Sika Deer, roe deer, and musk deer. In Sumatra Rusa Deer, wild boar, and Malayan Tapir are preyed on. In the former Caspian tiger's range, prey included Saiga Antelope, camels, Caucasian Wisent, yak, and wild horses. Like many predators, they are opportunistic and will eat much smaller prey, such as monkeys, peafowls, hares, and fish.

Places where they are found~.In the historical past tigers were widespread in Asia, from the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea, to Siberia and Indonesia. During the 19th century the striped cats completely vanished from western Asia, and became restricted to isolated pockets in the remaining parts of their range. Today, this fragmented relic range extends from India in the west to China and Southeast Asia in the east. The northern limit is close to the Amur River in south eastern Siberia. The only large island inhabited by tigers today is Sumatra. Tigers vanished from Java during the second half of the 19th century, and in Borneo are known only from fossil remains.

Country which has the most tigers~India ...I think.

  2. Tigers can live up to 25 in captivity, but usually less in the wild - between 10 and 15, though one tigress in India was known to be 22.

There is only one species of tiger, Panthera tigris, but there are six living subspecies - the Bengal tiger (P.t. tigris), Siberian or Amur tiger (P.t. altaica), Indo-Chinese tiger (P.t. corbetti), Malayan tiger (P.t. malayensis), Sumatran tiger (P.t. sumatrae) and South China tiger (P.t. amoyensis). There are also three extinct subspecies, all of which were wiped out entirely by human beings - the Bali tiger (P.t. balica), Caspian tiger (P.t. virgata) and Javan tiger (P.t. sondaica).

Like all cats, tigers are pure carnivores, eating only meat. Their main prey are large ungulates (hoofed mammals) - the species vary across the tiger's range, but include gaur, water buffalo, nilgai, sambar, chital, red deer, moose, sika deer and wild boar. They occasionally take rhino and elephant calves, and will take smaller prey, such as monkeys.

Tigers are an exclusively Asian species, found in India, China, Siberia, Sumatra, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Malaysia. The greatest number of tigers are found in India.
