  1. People drink lots of beer and get very drunk. Good fun. A great big party basically

  2. Went two weeks ago. Oktoberfest in Munich is quite expensive and don't plan on going there to get completely trashed out of your mind if you dont have tent reservations. You have to make these reservations a year in advance and you won't be able to enter most tents without one. Also, there are no repeat NO beer stalls anywhere around the fest grounds...I was very dissapointed. However, there is an AWESOME beer fest in Stuttgart that runs the same time as Beerfest in Munich. Tons of beer tents (no reservations required) more rides and less tourists, better prices as well. If you are in Germany earlier (two weeks) before OKtoberfest. The worlds biggest wine fest is in Bad DUrkheim (WurstMarkt) I prefer that fest over both Beer and Oktober in Munich anyday!!! Hope this helps! :)  You will DEFINITLEY be DISAPPOINTED in Munich

  3. The biggest and best is in Munich.   It was over October 5th.

  4. stephanie D is exaggerating. yes, it is very crowded, and yes it is expensive. But you don't necessarily need reservations. I live in Munich and I go to Oktoberfest every year. I have a good time every single time, and not once did I have reservations. I got into a beer tent every time, you just have to know when to go, and how to get in. There are ways. And every tourist I met had a blast there. So I doubt you would be disappointed.

    Some facts about Oktoberfest:

6.2 million people attended this year. (2007)

6.7 millions liters (approx 1.8 gallons) of beer was consumed. (2007)

one Maß beer (1 Liter beer) cost between 7,30 Euro and 7,90 Euro. (2007)

Beer tents sell beer on weekdays between 10am and 10:30pm - saturday, sunday, and on holidays: 9am - 10:30pm

Oktoberfest always lasts 16 days and always ends on the first Sunday in October. (Exception: October 1st is the first Sunday, in that case it will last until October 3rd (Tuesday) because that is the "German Unity Day", sort of a German Independence day).

The traditional clothing for guys is the Lederhosen (Leather pants) and for girls the Dirndl (a certain dress).

The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 and was a wedding between Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. A horse race also took place that day in the Okotberfest grounds, but those ended in 1960.

A pipe bomb was set off in a dustbin at the showers at the main entrance on September 26, 1980 at 10:19 PM. The bomb consisted of an empty fire extinguisher filled with 1.39 kilograms of TNT and mortar shells. Thirteen people were killed, over 200 were injured, 68 seriously.

12,000 people are employed at the Oktoberfest. Of these, 1600 are waitresses

There is seating available for 100,000 people.

    Hope this helped....

  5. If you go to the little green search box above ("Search for questions") and enter Oktoberfest, there are 223 entries. Perhaps you can get 30 facts for your report there...Good Luck..

  6. The one held in Munich has become very expensive and overcrowded. Plus, it's mainly tourists who attend this event. Locals might attend every once in a while but for the most part, they stay away from it.

  7. The worlds favourite wedding anniversary. Prost
