  1. Altitudes - Elevations

(the height of a fixed position above sea level)

Latitude, usually denoted symbolically by the Greek letter phi, gives the location of a place on Earth (or other planetary body) north or south of the equator. Lines of Latitude are the horizontal lines shown running east-to-west on maps.

Longitude symbolized by the Greek character lambda (λ), is the east-west (Side to Side) geographic coordinate measurement most commonly used in cartography and global navigation. A line of longitude is a meridian and half of a great circle.

  2. Altitude - the height above sea level of an object such as a mountain.

Latitude -  imaginary circles drawn around the earth parallel to the equator, measured in degrees and are about 69 miles apart.

Longitude - a measurement, in degrees, of a place's distance east or west of the prime meridian, which runs through Greenwich, England (north-south lines resembling an orange or a basketball).
