Hi,I'm Sophie.

My mum is from Cornwall,England.

My dad is from Manitoba,Canada

I am currently living in British Columbia, Canada.

I have 2 citizenship from uk and canada.

My problem is...on my canadian passport, birthplace section, it says Cornwall,England because I was born there.

But I want to change my birthplace to British Columbia, Canada.Even though I wasn't born in Canada, Am I right to change my birthplace and is it possible?

  1. In my view you shouldn't have any problems at the border as since changing your place of birth would require a court order it would be completely legal for Canadian passport purposes. Just keep the court's record with you at all times if you're planning on using both passports on a same trip. REMEMBER: you are not changing the place where you were born, but rather THE WAY IT'S WRITTEN IN YOUR PASSPORT as an example to protect you from being a victim of terrorism while travelling in IRAQ or places alike. Obviously you will be using the same passport for other countries. AND DON'T LISTEN TO DUMMERS ABOVE. THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

  2. Birthplace can be changed, but not as easy as changing the name. In UK naturalisation form, there's possibility to change the birthplace. But it will be done under discretion of Home Secretary. It can also be via court decision. Some strong reasons will be needed to change the birthplace. It is relatively easy to change your birthplace to nearest town for example. Changing country is big thing, but it can be done too. It can be done via 'political assylum' case, where your birthplace will have to be changed to protect you. Or you can apply to a court to change your birthplace for the reason of discrimination, gender change (for security reasons). If you were born in UK and live in Canada, it's fine, but if you live in Iran, then changing the birthplace could be reasonable too, to prevent any troubles. There's some witness protection programmes in some countries that allow to change all the details. More of all, if you've got money, everything is possible.
