  1. Yes it just won't burn very bright, in fact it may not even be visible.

  2. Yup, you can run your whole house with a battery. If it's big enough.

But what is the voltage of the light?

What is the voltage and size of the battery?

If the light is a normal US 120 VAC light, then you need enough batteries that are connected in series to add up to that voltage, like 10 auto batteries of 12 volts each will give you 120 volts.

Or you can use an inverter with one battery, but that is getting complicated.

    .

  3. Many places sell inverters that can convert a 12V DC battery to 120V AC. Small ones are like 75W, but you can get as big as 1200W inverters.

Just remember that the higher the wattage needed, the more AH or Amp Hours your battery has to be.

So for your example, to power 150W bulb, assuming 120V, the bulb would draw approx 1.3Amps.

    (W=V*A so A=W/V so 1.3A=150W/120V)

So depending on how long you need to power this bulb before killing the battery depends on how many AH you need.

To run the bulb for an hour, you would need about a 2AH battery.

  4. Sure you can.

Std. automotive headlights are 55W. - They're battery powered.

Some 'off road` lamps are 100 or 150W.- They're battery powered.

You just need a big enough battery and a lamp to match the battery voltage.

    (150W. 120V. lamp won't work too well with a 12 V. battery y'know.)

  5. Of course you can if the battery is big enough and can supply the needed voltage.  Watts = volts multiplied by amps, so if the battery supplies 12 volts, the current will be about 12.5  amps.  This would be easy for a car battery or better, a deep cycle battery. It would last a matter of hours, depending on the size of the battery.

100 Watt driving lamps are not uncommon in car headlamps. I have two 100 watt driving lamps on my car in addition to the standard headlamps.
