  1. Air travel wasn't common until the 1950's and since then Planes have gotten larger and larger to fly more people long distances.  Airlines have consistently lost money since the industry was deregulated (in the 1970's), and this can't continue so we will probably see mergers and possibly rising prices.  We may reach a point where the average person can't afford to fly.  Or we may choose to take our vacations closer to home as the impact of gas consumption impacts more and more on global warming etc.  Certainly the rich are getting richer, the poor poorer and the middle classes are being squeezed, so we may have to settle for being armchair travellers and just going down the road to Disneyland.
