  1. the answer has to be no.   exams are all about the questions on the day and the answers you give.  you can be great all year and just go blank on exam day.

  2. nah...but senior cycle reports would give you a fair idea.

  3. No, not really. The Junior Cert is a very different exam to the Leaving Cert and someone who does well (or badly) during the Junior Cycle may perform very differently at Senior Cycle. This is because they might grow up a bit after the JC and see that they need to study hard if they want to do well on the LC exams, or, on the other hand, they might do very well on the JC and sit back and relax thinking they'll be grand, get distracted and do poorly on the LC.

Even the mocks, which are just before the LC exams, aren't a good predictor of final results. I know pupils who have done really well on the mocks and dropped a load of grades on the real thing, and pupils who have failed the mocks and gone on to get over 500 points.

The best way to ensure good grades is to choose the subjects you like the most, listen in class and always do your homework. You don't need to work your backside off if you work consistently through 5th and 6th year, but make sure you ask for help if you ever start to have problems. The 2 years pass really quickly and you can get lost really quickly.

If you've already been through all this and are just waiting for your results, I really wish you the best of luck tomorrow! Tonight will be horrible!
