Okay so, what temperature does it heat lightning at.

Right now it's 84 degrees and the low for tonight is 60 degrees so do you think it's gonna heat lightning?

  1. He's right some people also call it heat lightning because they dont believe theres any rain with the storm.

    I dont know it depends a on a lot more than just temp.

    whats the humidity, burametric pressure, etc.

  3. "Heat Lightning?"  Thats a new one on me!  :)  

    Lightning is just static electricity on a grand scale.  Its possible

    but not likely for lightning to strike without a storm.  Since there

    are people who think it can be generated by heat, it must have

    actually happened.  In the same way that you can "charge"

    yourself by dragging your feet on the carpet, the air "charges"

    itself by rubbing against water in the air especially when

    dry air "rubs" moist air like in a rain cloud.  Look out for

    puffy clouds with billows going upward.  Thats where you're

    likely to find lightning.

  4. There is no such thing as heat lightning,its actually a storm thats to far away to be heard.
