Question:

Can you preview a web address on a Mac computer before you click the link?

I just got a Macbook and one thing that bothers me is that before you click on a link, it doesn't show you what the web address is if you hold your mouse over it. On my old PC, if you pointed at it (without clicking) , it would show the website the link led to. Does this make sense?

How can I make my Mac do this? Thanks!

  1. On a Mac, when using Safari go to the "View" menu and click "Show Status Bar"  That will bring up a grey bar at the bottom of your web browser windows that will not only tell you what's going on (contacting, loading, etc) but will show you the full link when you put your mouse over a hyperlink on a webpage.

I believe this is what you are referring to.  As for the above comment about Firefox, it is an excellent web browser and though it does do some things better than Safari you can't beat Safari's speed on a Mac.

    Good luck!

  2. If you're using Safari, there doesn't appear to be a way to do this (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Download Firefox. It shows you the link if you hover over it.
