  1. There are far to few circumstances to provide an accurate answer to your question.  For example, if this took place in an acting class, in a joking manner on the football field during practice, or two grumpy 75 year old men yelling it at you because you took their parking spot.  In these instances a reasonable and prudent person would not considered these to be viable threats.  So the answer is no you would not be justified.

However, let us change the scenerio just a little.  A group of unrully looking young men shouting gang slogans head towards you in a dark alley.  Then the answer is a resounding YES!  I offer this advice.  If you are outnumbered as you describe try running before you try stabbing.  If they are serious about doing something this stupid, then it is very likely that one or more of them will be armed as well.  If you are successful in using the knife there will be several questions to be answered as to whether or not the use of the weapon was authorized.  Questions such as Why did you have the knife?  Was the knife a legal knife to carry or was it an illeagle knife such as a switchblade?

To the youngster who said he was a Texas Police Officer, you sound like a cadet or a rookie.  Think your responses all they way through when answering any question.  It will improve your report writing and will save you in court, trust me.  Just offerring friendly advice.  Good luck in your career.

  2. don't see why not...a gun would probably work better though

  3. Of course you can, and you can then explain your actions to the magistrate as well.  Good luck mate.

  4. You can, only to state you were defending yourself against threats.  However, some counties/states say you cannot do that because those group of people (if no weapon) were unarmed, and since you ahve a weapon, you could defend yourself, and be arrested for assualt with a deadly weapon (worst case scenrio) so best suggestion is don't put yourself in that type of situation.  If you see people that you don't know or you don't hang out with head in your direction, then I would go elsewhere...2 many risks involved.

  5. its against the law to carry a knife...

so if you pulled out a knife then your in the wrong.

if the situation does occur where you are approached by person/s threatening you and you pull out a knife on them, its probably best you tell the police that you wrestled it off one of the people in the group...preferably the one you stabbed to death, because he cant tell tell them your lieng......

  6. yes you can...in Texas anytime you feel that your well being..is threatened you are able to use any force up to and including deadly force to preserve your own life...as long as you can justify your ctions you are good to go...

  7. It's a Catch-22. If they feel threatened and take it from you, the tide has turned...for the worse.

  8. That's too simple a question to get any kind of answer you can trust. In general, you are expected to retreat. What you can do if you can't (and that doesn't mean you don't want to retreat) depends on the exact circumstances.
