Can you put DVR programming on an SD card?

This may be a dumb question.

I have a mediacom DVR box. The box has an SD card slot built into it.

Is there a way to save these recordings onto the SD card? I dont know what else this card slot would be for.

Does anyone know a way to make this work?

    The SD slot is to update the firmware in the box.

    You can't put video on it.
