It's an old gateway computer P5-100 Series needing memory upgrade from 64MB to at least 128MB or more. Would this memory be compatible. Please advise.

  1. Goto Crucial.com and use their "Find memory" configurer, and put in the manufactuer and system model. It'll tell you what make and model of memory can be used.

Older proprietary systems (especially Compaq) made specific memory to work for their computers, so specific it was difficult to find OEM memory that would work (like instead of gold contacts on the leads, tin was recommended -- a bane with Compaq). Companies like Crucial and Kingston did make some that was compatible, but you h-a-v-e to find the make and model of the memory -- get the specific recommended CAS timings, not higher or slower, or the memory won't work).

  2. Go to crucial.com and do the "scan my system" to see the memory compatibility. You have to go a lot higher than 128mb ,today 512mb is the minimum for simple tasks

  3. it depends it the is it compatible does it have the same amount of pins as the origina .. if it does it should be compatible
