I am interested in buy this fork for my bike, but I am not sure if it will fit. Its a barely used fork. I ride my bicycle a lot, but I do not have much experience on the geometry of the bicycles.

  1. Maybe it is too large.  Some forks can be shortened, but I'm not sure about the Float.  Go to a bike shop and see if they can help you on that.

  2. there are issues like change in the geometry, but i am pretty sure it will fit

  3. Here are the issues:

    1. The Float's steering tube is 1 and 1/8" in diameter.  If your current fork has a 1 and 1/8" steering tube it will fit.

    2. Has the steering tube of the Float been cut?  If it has been cut and is too short for the headtube of your Hardrock you will not want to buy it.  Measure your current fork from the top of the crown to the top of the cap nut.  Make sure the Float is approximately the same length.

    3. The Float has 140mm of travel.  Your current fork probably has 100mm of travel.  Thus, the nose of your bike will be a bit higher and your bikes geometry will be changed a bit.  This will have the effect of making handling less nimble.  On the plus side, you'll have a longer wheelbase which will make the ride more comfortable and stable.  You'll need to adjust your bike fit a bit to accommodate the longer fork.

    Hope this helps.
