I hope this isn't a dumb question, and I should know these things, being pretty bright myself, but I wanted to put this bamboo plant in my fridge for a week or two, so that the water doesn't evaporate.

I don't know how that would harm this bamboo plant - and I'm not even sure if it is simply ok for it be dry for 13 days?

It's a very healthy plant though.

I have seen some answers about cutting up a sponge and soaking, etc. - I don't have an extra one and don't have time to get one lol.

I do have some paper napkins but.... Any suggestions that will work for 2 weeks? Again, I'm not sure if the bamboo plant can just stay dry.

THANKS

  1. EDITED ANSWER BELOW =====

    1 ) Very cold temp. plus total darkness will make life difficult for your plant in a refrigerator .

    2 ) Life in a  refrigerator for that long a period will be like putting a man in tundra with nothing on . If he can survive then your Bamboo plant will surely survive!!!!

    3 ) If you can cover the plant along with the pot wit a transparent plastic covering then it might help

    Put plenty of water in the plant container

    Plastic will not allow water to evaporate ( Provided there are no sneaking holes or escape route for water vapor to escape ). In addition it will maintain humidity that your plant will love .

    Transparent plastic will allow light to reach the plant .

    It is like self contained and warm tent .

  2. No thats just STUPID!!!

  3. no it will die from no sunshine and the cold!

    I use the gel that absorbs water in mine and they lived from a move that took me 3 months to finish and start caring for them again. you can get the gel at a florist or in the craft departments of most stores. The gel will rehydrate every time you water and last for weeks!

  4. Bamboo plant will not survive in the  refrigerator as the temeperature inside it is too low. Bamboo is a tropical plant which needs warm temperature, good sunlight and enough water to grow well. All these factors are not available in the refrigerator.  So please donot try this experiment, the bamboo is sure to die.
