If so, do you have to buy special or certain kinds? Where can I find them?

  1. You could wear a captive ring in a tongue piercing....

    But...

    WHY WOULD YOU?

A captive ring is going to be at risk for smacking around on your teeth, getting bitten down on, and it's going to make you lisp. All in all it's not a viable option. If you were to bite down on your hoop or hit it hard enough, it could chip your teeth or dislodge the bead. Swallowing your jewelry probably wouldn't hurt you, but it's possible that it could. Which is why you don't put things in your mouth that shouldn't be eaten like quarters, puppies, and captive bead rings.

If you are dead set on trying this, take yourself to your local piercer and tell them what you're after. They should be able to measure you (or eyeball) for what size hoop you need. Once they're done laughing and trying to talk you out of the idea, you will probably walk away with a hoop for 10-15 bucks.

There is a reason that 99.999% of people with tongue piercings do not wear hoops. However, it's utterly possible to put one in if that's what you really want in your heart of hearts. Just PLEASE be careful when you wear that hoop. No point in eating 15 bucks or having chipped teeth.
