Can you put a car in your name at age 16?

My dad bought the car for me last year and he wants to put it in my name so he is no longer responsible for it. I'm already insured. The car is paid off. Can the car be placed in my name? Will a cosigner, such as my mom, be needed? Thanks in advance:]

  1. cannot cause after your aged is 18 ,then your dad can tranfer to your and put your name.yes a cosigner is needed.

  4. It depends. IF the car is from a dealership, and still owe money on it, then yes, you will need a co-signer.

    If the car is already owned by your parents, then no you do not need a co-signer. Simply go the the DMV and get the names switched.
