A cockatale landed on my husbands shoulder at work we cant find his owner is friendly. The love bird we have is a male rather old and lost his life mate in feb. Lovebird seems curious with cockatale and cockatale seems to want to show off in a sence. Don't want either to get hurt. Can we put in same cage or no? We currantly have bird in a makeshift cage.

  1. no.

you will have to get a proper cage soon.

really good idea to get the teil screened for parasites and other bacteria or illness before you let them be buddies.

give it time maybe they can share but not right now.

territorial issues could happen so be prepared.

  2. i wouldnt advise it, lovebirds by nature are very aggressie to other birds (its not her fault its just nature) they and cockaitels cant really defend themselves in a fight so if the lovebird does decide to show the cockatiel who boss the tiel could get hurt, congtrats on the new tiel tho, they are great birds!! check out www.parrotcentral.net for good bird info!

  3. No. Love Birds are often mean birds, add the difference in size means chances are the love bird would injure or kill the cockatiel.

    Very different avian species!

  4. A pet store close to me keeps many different species of baby birds in the same cage so i guess so, but i would watch them for the first couple days

  5. i had two birds once, one was found at my school and the other i got from a breeder. the two got along pretty well. i dont know the two will react but slowly introduce them to eachother. move the cages next to eachother and then let them actually meet. take it step by step like that. hope things work out! =] good luck
