  1. no

  2. Yes, otherwise how would it be possible for them to reproduce? You just can't put two males together in a tank. ~MaDisoN

  3. how do u even know if its a female and a male? And if they are both males or both females, NO! I really dont know..

  4. No.  If a male and female betta are just plopped together into a tank they will fight and injure each other.  In the wild they have a lot of room to get away from each other and only come together to mate when the female and male are ready to spawn.  When breeding bettas in captivity, people have to spend several days up to a week conditioning them seperately first.  Even then, sometimes one or both fish are injured during breeding.  Good betta breeders always keep medication on hand to treat their fish's injuries afterwards.  Most bettas that you see swimming peacefully together in fish stores are either females or siblings that were raised together from birth.  Once seperated they cannot be put together again.

  5. Yes, I think you can. But be aware that you just can't put two male bettas together in the same tank without them fighting!

  6. Yes, The male Beta are territorial and try to run off fish they view as competitors, not likely mates.

  7. They say that u shouldent but you can you see it all the time at wal-mart

  8. Only the male fight each other, so yes in order to breed them, you must put a female and a male together and the will get along, but right after breeding, the female must be taken out or he will kill her!!!

  9. I'm not sure, but I do know that betas are aggressive fish, so I would guess no.  They will probably fight.

  10. In the wild, the only time a male and female betta are together is when they are spawning.  After the actual spawning has occurred, the male will drive the female away and even kill her if she cannot escape (together in a tank).

Males and females should be separated at all times until you want them to spawn.  They should be conditioned for 2-3 weeks prior to introducing them to each other.  This means lots of good high protein food (they are carnivores).

Females can live together in groups, but the males are solitary individuals.

The males will do their courtship displays if a female shows up but if she is not "ready" (conditioned), she will be chased unmercifully until she either leaves the area or he kills her.

  11. no they still wont get along the only way they can mate is if you have a large aquarium and you put some sort of seaweed in between them so they cant get through. The male will aventially stop trying to get through and leave an egg the female will fing  the egg and absorb it. And soon after that you will have baby betas!!! but make sure you get them away from the parents as soon as possible

  12. Yeah, you can, if you have ever had a male Betta then you might have seen him producing bubbles, if there was a female with him the eggs would go into those bubbles and would be protected by them. But be warned they reproduce very very very fast within a couple a months  you'll have millions of little fish!!!
