  1. You can run a regular lamp or light socket on 100 Watts or less around your house.

If your heat lamp globe is more than 100 Watts, then you should not put that into a regular household socket.

If you know anyone with an electrical background, you could ask them too.

  2. no! my friend burned a hole in her carpet and her lamp doing that!

  3. Yes, when I had my baby turkeys, I had a 250 watt heat lamp bulb hooked up to a thermostat. It worked out just fine. We had over 45 pounds of turkey for Thanksgiving, and fed 17 people with leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving.

Make sure you have a porcelain base if you go to that wattage.

  4. no

  5. some lamps can take only 75 watts

  6. if u wanna burn the place down!!!!!! NO you cant a heat bulb puts out too high of a wattage which a lamp cant handle. it will heat up the cord and burn it in 2 and possibly burn your house down too. heat bulbs are  best run on one circuit from your panel. anyone that says yes is a fool do not listen to them!!! i couldnt sleep at night knowing i had them rigged up in my house if that helps

  7. That depends.

MOST sockets have a rating tag and the most common one on most overhead and/or table lamps is 60 watt these days.

MOST heat lamps are more than that, AND because of the extra heat they are designed to put out SHOULD be put in appropriate porcelin sockets of the proper rating, and WITH a reflector to direct the heat away from the wiring in the back of the socket.

REMEMBER to keep ALL flamables such as curtins and drapes away from heat lamps.
