Can you put a lionfish in the same tank as an african starfish?

I bought a Lionfish and an Afican Starfish and they have been in the tank together for about a month but now for some reason my star was lying on its back and it moved but then dies and pieces were breaking off him as he moved. Is it possible that the Lionfish caused this to happen considering its poisonous?

without knowing your water conditions in your tank, it is hard to say exactly what killed the starfish, but I think it is safe to say that the lionfish should live alone from now on :~)
