  1. No.

Rabbits have powerful back legs and if they argue/fight with the guinea pig or stand on them they could kill them. It is possible for them to be together but it's high risk and not worth it. It's better to put them in separate cages but able to see each other.

A cage should be as large as possible, but as long as it has a top the rabbit won't climb out. Without a top it would have to be 1-2 meters higher than anything inside as rabbits can jump fairly high.

  2. Yes you can, I have seen them do that at the pet store. As long as they get along, it should be fine. If you havn't yet, try putting all of them together in a little area, so they can get to know eachother a little bit.

  3. yep they should be fine. i had a rabbit and a guinea pig in the same cage and they were friendly (sometimes over friendly!)

  4. No when they where babies it would have been fine, because they have never met before. But the GP's have been there the longest.

It's their territory, and all of a sudden something new is invading it. It's like a stranger moving in with you.

I suggest you put the rabbit in a small wire cage and place this in the big one. To let the GPs get the smell. This also allows the Rabbit to feel safe.

But as you say if they all get along fine i don't see why not, just keep a close eye on the three of them. If any trouble begins take action immediately don't wait.

The cage is fine if the rabbit is young she won't want to escape she will want to explore. But as she gets older about 6-8 ft should do. Some rabbits can jump up to 6ft.

Hope i helped and good luck.

  5. Everyone is telling you correct.  As far as vitman C it doesn't hurt rabbits just cut an orange & put it in the cage they love them.

Height of the cage depends on your rabbit.  If the rabbit is happy in the cage it won't get out.  You might consider a top on the cage.  Make sure you have something for all the animals to hide in.

  6. Hmm, if they get along good, they should be fine :) Just check your guinea pigs and your rabbit everyday for illness or injury :D

  7. Guinea pigs and rabbits can live together, depending on their temperaments. If you have already seen that they get along, there is no reason they can't live together.

The height of the cage can depend. Is your rabbit a jumper? Rabbits can surprise you by their incredibly vertical leap. The last rabbit I had was able to easily clear the three foot cage we had for it.

Once you put them in the cage, by the way, watch them carefully for the first few days. Guinea pigs and rabbits are what you would call "Prey Creatures", in other words, they are animals that are used to be hunted. Because of that, they will hide injuries, unlike a dog, which will whimper and whine. If one of your animals hurts the other, you might not know it if you aren't paying attention.

    Hope that helps!

  8. It is never a good idea to mix rodent species. It may not happen today, nor tomorrow, but eventually one or both of the pigs will end up injured or dead.

Secondly, rabbits are carriers of bordetella, which is fatal to guinea pigs.

Lastly, they have different diets. You cannot feed guinea pigs the rabbit pellets because some contain antibiotics that could kill your piggies. Rabbits are very territorial and will end up hogging the food. Typically, the piggies end up malnourished because of this.

Its just best to house them separately.

  9. Its not that they dont get along, its that rabbits can kill guinea pigs without even meaning to. They have those powerful hind legs, if they accidentally kick the guinea pig, you have a dead pig.

Also guinea pigs need vitamin c in their pellets rabbits do not.
