Can you put a trackig number on mail through the post office?

  1. Sort of. You can get a tracking number for your package, but it really doesn't track the package. They only scan the bar code when you drop it off and when they deliver it. It's not like UPS or Fed Ex where they are scanning the package every step of the way. But it does let you know once it's been delivered, which can be somewhat helpful. It does cost extra to get a tracking number if you go into the post office. If you print out a priority mail label online you get the tracking number free.


  2. Yes! I have to do it all the time for work.  Just take it to the post office and ask for delivery confimation.  they slap a bar code on the envelope and you can track it through their website.  There is an extra charge, about $2.65 for a letter I think.  I don't know if the charge varies on the letter/ package or not.
