I was thinking of buying an hp a6560t desktop computer because my current pc is out of date and I want to play a few games. It doesn't come with any good options for video cards and if I do buy it, I was going to put in an 8800gt. Do you think its 300W power supply will be enough to handle it? If not, what is another good card from Nvidia that will be compatible?

  1. I'm pretty positive an 8800gt will blow a 300watt power supply.  An 8600 might work for you, but I'd really suggest just buying a new power supply and a good video card considering how cheap they have gotten lately.

With an 8800gt you can play d**n near every game maxed with great framerates, except crysis of coarse, which will be slower but very playable on medium settings.

  2. Why would you buy an HP computer that doesn't have what you want? Better to build your own computer from components and bundles and get exactly what you want for a much better price. Putting everything together doesn't take that much talent and installing the operating system and getting everything running smoothly is just plain fun in my opinion. If you want the 8800GT, then build your system around that. What processor will compliment it? You should definitely get a motherboard that supports Nvidia SLI for eventual upgrade to running parallel video cards. And by all means buy the 500W-550W power supply you'll need. here are some guides:

Here's a motherboard 8800GT bundle that just needs a heatsink fan, case, and the Intel processor of your choice. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

Also, I don't know where you got 500W from, the 8800GT's I'm looking at require 400W for standard and 450W for SLI mode (two video cards installed).

  3. Nope, the psu will not handle it.

Define a good card from Nvidia.....

  4. no you will need at leest 500 watts and 25 amps
