Can you put any old microwave in an over the range microwave slot?

My mom's current over-the-range microwave recently shot some flames inside. She has another microwave that she believes she can slide into the slot. I guess there is some sort of venting trim she can buy that will still allow her to vent. Is this actually the case? Can you really just put any old micro up in there?

  1. Yes, you can.  You just need to make sure it fits in the hole with enough room around it so that it vents good.  It needs the air circulation to prevent overheating.

  2. To answer the direct Q, I suspect "ANY" might depend on the size of the opening.

OLD is obviously a word you use for one that exists other than the one that flamed out.

What might be important is finding the receptacle the Burned out "NUKER" was plugged into.

Certainly a built in usually vents from the front, which will also matter in your case.

  3. i believe  you can, as long as it fits, and vents
