Question:

Can you put chickens and ducks in the same living quarters?

I realize that this might seem like a very stupid and obvious question ... however, I have no experience with this topic. Also, if you know of any links on how to make a predator-free chicken-coop or duck house, links would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Hi from France ♫

Of course, you can do it ! Any problem so...

    Have a nice day,

    Cat.

  2. Some varieties of both can get pretty aggressive, especially males, but if raised from chicks with enough room and their own places, it should be O.K. Ducks will need some wetter pondage or pool to be happiest and chickens will avoid that, being happier in a coop. If you can't provide a good environment for ducks with some water, consider peafowl instead, like Guinea hens. Also consider Bantams. The hatchery below is a great source. Enjoy!

  3. Sure! Just make sure they're not too crammed together and they'll do fine.

  4. wellI don't think that you should do it...

  5. they would be perfectly fine together, I do it all the time, but be careful not to buy medicated feed, it'll kill the ducks

  6. yes but if they have just a problem with each other take them out immediately ive tried it

  7. hi powerann.

i personally wouldnt put them in together,i think chickens are quite prone to respiratory illnesses,i dont know if they can be passed on,i wouldnt risk it.as for a predator free depending on how many chickens you have you can get arks which are covered and can be moved about the garden, their droppings help fertilise the soil, these are expensive to buy but maybe you could copy one,as chickens and ducks both like corn rats do too,im sure you probably know all this.
